This is insanity.
I've been engaged for less than 3 weeks. In that time, I have:
-lost sleep
-gained 10 pounds from stress eating
-driven everyone around me crazy (or at least I feel like I have)
-come up with, and canned, over 100 ideas for everything from
flowers to music...

Our Wedding Day
*with pics*. My wedding day was the most beautiful day
of my life. It was perfect and stress-free. The weather was great. It
started at about 6:45 AM. I couldn't believe the day was here already! We
were at the salon by 8:30AM. Our hair and makeup looked great. Around
10:30AM we left the salon and went to my Aunt and Uncles house where we got
ready. Even when I was putting on my dress, I still couldn't believe it was
here. The limo arrived around 12:30PM, and it was time to go to the church.
I started to get a bit nervous when we got to the church because I was
walking down the aisle by myself. But I was still calm and it was the most
amazing moment of my life...

Our honeymoon - from grand to worst. I know you ladies
have been waiting quite a while to hear about my honeymoon in gut wrenching
detail. Your wait is over!
On October 16, 2005 we boarded an Air Canada flight and headed for our dream
honeymoon. Upon arrival, we were very impressed with the resort...

My exciting
proposal story. Okay, so it was totally a surprise. It
was our 2 year anniversary and we were at my FH's cottage with his family
celebrating his brothers birthday. It was the September long weekend. We had
just gotten home from a 2 week trip to France and Spain for another friends
wedding. And I was sad that he didn't propose in France, but I figured,
okay, he's not ready. So anyways, after lunch one day I was helping my FH's
brother wash dishes and my FH disappeared. After a while I went looking for
him and when I got to the bedroom there was an envelope with my name on it
and a backpack. I opened the envelope and it said something like "Here is
your mission. You must take this backpack and a bathing suit and follow the
clues to find my whereabouts. Do not tell anyone what you are doing...

Select Service specializes in custom menus,
exotic canapés and all-inclusive
packages |
|
Kelvin Lewin and Marcus Kallweit will be the first to tell you
that at a wedding, things can change in a heartbeat. "Caterers have to think
of everything. We make lists and check them many times. All eventualities are
covered and nothing is forgotten," says Marcus. Together, Kelvin and Marcus of
Select Service Caterers of Fine Foods Inc., have built a company that is known
for being able to turn a barn into a ballroom and a wedding date into a
fairytale.
Their high-end
service, all-inclusive pricing, customized menus and exotic canapés, are just a
few of the things that have brought notoriety to Select Service. Select Service
offers full service catering that includes planning from beginning to end and
has no hidden costs. "With Select Service, you're a guest at your own event.
Couples who come to us are really concerned with the details, the attention paid
to their food, and the service. Essentially, people call us when everything must
be perfect."
Marcus and Kelvin
met while working together at Langdon Hall ten years ago. When Kelvin purchased
Select Service, it seemed only natural to bring Marcus on-board. He had extensive knowledge of wine as well as experience in the food and hospitality industry -
two keys to successful catering and event...

Lynn Weber brings detail & big city style to custom floral design |
|
Carrie Lynn's emphasis is on the details - the ones that show in photos,
and the ones that only the bride can see. "I can create any style. Some
brides want glam, others want vintage or classic with a modern twist..."
From dramatic to simple elegant, Carrie Lynn will work with you to make
your vision a reality. It is important to her that the flowers she
creates reflect the bride and groom. "Whatever I create, I create
passionately, with extraordinary style." Whether it be simple lines or
sequins and lace, Carrie Lynn specializes in combining some of the most
beautiful textures and colours to create stylish bouquets that are
totally unique, reflecting what's hot in both the fashion and floral
industry. With Carrie Lynn, beautiful flowers are a given. As she does
at Sheridan College several times a week, Carrie Lynn sat down with The
Ring to teach us at thing or two about how floral design can truly make
an impact on your wedding day...
The brides
that come to Carrie Lynn, are usually forward thinking brides - those
who want flowers that set their wedding apart from others. As a recent
bride herself, she has a keen sense of what a young trendy bride wants,
and she is filled with ideas on how to use flowers to create the most

Eight locations and quality wedding gown care brings success for Sketchley
Cleaners
|
|
When you've put so
much of your time, focus and emotion into finding the perfect dress... it only
makes sense to keep that dress in pristine condition for years to come. Because
Sketchley Cleaners has all the advantages brides are looking for - with eight
locations in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, reasonable prices and a reputation of
quality - we had to find out more about what Sketchley Cleaners can offer to
area brides. We sat down with Owner, Dan Yantzi, to find out more about why
brides often leave their locations saying their gowns look as good leaving
Sketchley as they did leaving the gown shop...
The Sketchley
Cleaners' name has been in the Kitchener-Waterloo community for over twenty
years. Dan's entrepreneurial spirit and desire to turn the business into a
success, found him purchasing his first Sketchley Cleaners location in 1992. Dan
chose Sketchley because after living in the area, he knew it to be a
long-standing, popular name in the community. He started by purchasing one
location, then two... "I live in this community. Everyone knows the Sketchley
name. It seemed obvious to me... I just knew." In 1995, Dan purchased the
cleaning facility all of the remaining stores in the area. Dan says that while
some services may be the same, he offers a different level of care that you
won't find...

For over three years, Sterling Accents has been a local haven for bridal
jewellery
|
|
Karen Young, Owner
of Sterling Accents, custom designs sterling silver jewellery by hand for
occasions of all kinds - her most popular client being a bride. Her shop is wall
to wall and end to end with earrings, necklaces, bracelets, tiaras, head pieces,
and veils - each created by Karen. She has hundreds of samples on display, each
one with a different design and colour scheme, covering every trend and style in
depth. Sterling Accents' popularity with local brides is a result of Karen's
attention to detail, trendy designs, great prices and ability to customize
jewellery that will sparkle in all the right places on the bride to be.
As the name implies,
Sterling Accents originally started out as a shop dedicated to creating custom
jewellery by working with sterling silver. Karen Young's expertise in creating
pieces out of sterling silver made her unique. She could, and still often does,
put together new pieces of jewellery from family heirlooms or designs out of
magazines. She is entirely self-taught, and continually updates her knowledge of
trends and styles. Karen explained to us how she continually works on her craft,
"There is a lot of trial and error involved in teaching myself something new."
Soon after opening, local brides found Sterling Accents and began...

Guelph's Cutten Club offers reputation, history, elegance & service for a
spectacular wedding day
|
|
The
Cutten Club is a private golf and tennis club that has been hosting weddings
since 1931. Choosing a club that is recognized as one of the finest in the
country means choosing reputation, history and elegance. You can expect high
ceilings, natural light, fireplaces, and traditional decor... all combined with
the advantages of an indoor ballroom reception for 25 to 180 guests, an outdoor
ceremony amidst stunning gardens, and views of both the course and the Guelph
cityscape. But what's more, you can expect the service that only a club with
this much history could offer you.
As much a part
of Guelph's heritage as Guelph itself, The Cutten Club has hosted 50th
anniversaries for couples in the same rooms where they exchanged their vows so
many years before. It's this long history of dealing with weddings, and
consistency in great service that makes the staff of The Cutten Club such
experts.
The best part
about this amazing venue is the personal attention you will receive from the
staff. While we were there, each staff member that walked by greeted us
personally with a 'hello' and a smile. Of course, the most important staff
member to a bride or groom planning their wedding is the on-site planner...

K-W brides to turn imagination
into reality

If
you were at the Welcome Wagon Show in Kitchener on September 13 - you will
undoubtedly remember the name Noccé. Pronounced 'No-Chay', the word was created
to mean couture for an elegant evening and that's what they offer to
Kitchener-Waterloo brides - only without the designer price. At the show, The
Ring got to see the beautiful custom creations that Noccé produces for their
brides first hand... it only made us want to find out more! We sat down with
Ileana Poessy, designer and her daughter Axel to find out the in's and out's of
their custom design gown service. "What we like most about the business is the
fact that we are allowing someone to get exactly what they want, their ideal
dream dress," Ileana explains. Having someone take your description of exactly
what you are looking for and turning it into a reality - within a reasonable...

A
Universal offers luxury transportation & service to local brides
|
|
When
the staff at The Ring visited with A Universal on their expansive grounds
located between St. Thomas and Aylmer, we were blown away by what we thought,
originally, might have just been another limousine company. We knew that A
Universal has been among the ‘who’s who’ in luxury transportation for over a
decade, but now we know why. By focusing on providing tons of options,
customizable packages, quality service, and excellence in both their vehicles
and their chauffeurs, it’s no wonder that business managers, brides and prom
queens alike, repeatedly choose this company to get them to their destinations
in style. This company knows it’s business inside and out and only gets bigger
every year, because of it. A Universal
offers horse drawn convertible Cinderella-style carriages, limousines seating
six to sixteen people, stretch SUV’s...

Family owners bring dedication and
quality to the forefront of the K-W area tuxedo market |
In
the past, The Ring has visited and called Collins Formal Wear countless times,
in an effort to do research for our brides and grooms. Every single time we
approach Collins, we are greeted the same way each customer is greeted - warmly
and with appreciation. Even with tons of weddings on the go, clients filling
their rental locations, and lots on their plates, the three owners of Collins
Formal Wear - Lynda, Brad and Curt Collins never fail to provide exceptional
service to each of their clients. It's for this reason, and for their extensive
selection of high quality, exclusive formal wear, that The Ring decided every
groom should know what we know about Collins Formal Wear. Collins is a rarity in
that it has been around since 1965, is family-owned and operated, and you can
find the founders of the company still running the show themselves on the
day-to-day basis...
