It's natural
for couples who are planning a summer wedding to feel panic set in as
they watch temperatures reach record highs and the UV Index go off the
chart... Have no fear! Most
weddings are
held almost entirely indoors, WITH air-conditioning and have no cause
for concern.
There are only a few times when you will really encounter the heat...
•
outdoor
photo shoots
•
outdoor
receiving lines
•
indoor or
outdoor locations without air conditioning (usually the ceremony
location)
Here are some tips for staying cool at your heat wave wedding...
•
bring a
cooler with bottled water, fruits and veggies for down-time sustenance,
and a few ice packs to keep both you and your food cool (keep your
cooler in the limo for less hassle)
•
use your
air-conditioned limousine to cool off in between events
•
pack
deodorant in your bridal emergency kit
•
if your
indoor location has no A/C, consider renting large fans to cool your
space
•
consider a
gown with a detachable train for less weight
•
gather your
locks together in an 'up do'
•
select a
veil that can be detached from the clip or tiara

Calvin Photography
balances candid and posed for the right mix of wedding style
When Erin & Dean
of Calvin Photography showed us their portfolio, we could see why their
clients love them. They say because they are not bound by one specific
photographic style, they are able to be more flexible in their work and
provide a variety of photo options to their brides. Each photo we looked at
had a different style, angle, and attitude about it... each one capturing
the combination of emotions and moments that make up a wedding day.
Using their
skills to capture candid moments and their artistic vision to create
'edgy-posed' portraits brings balance to their work and the finished
product. This husband and wife team not only enjoy working together, but
they excel at it... combining their perfected technical skills with their
artistic flare to provide K-W and area brides with light-hearted and edgy
shots to remember each wedding moment. Erin and Dean have been wowing brides
and grooms in the area for almost four years (almost as long as they've been
married...

Quaint, old world country hall gives
new meaning to the all-inclusive
package concept
When you
first visit The Black Forest Inn, you would assume that their
popularity comes from their country setting, old world charm, and
your less-than-ten-minute drive that got you there. In truth, what
brides are talking about most is Wedding Planner Barb Newman, and
The Black Forest Inn's all-inclusive wedding package that includes
literally everything, from dining to DJ.
The
term all-inclusive usually refers to a package that includes alcohol
or taxes and gratuities within the cost. At The Black Forest Inn,
it's your entire wedding reception that is included. When you host
your wedding here, you have your own wedding planner who will soon
be your lifeline, full DJ service, the decor that will surround you,
the wedding cake you'll serve to your guests, an amazing photography
package, the four course dinner you'll love, the unlimited hors
d’oeuvres hour, and of course the location for your wedding and
possibly your ceremony too...

Charmanté
becomes
one of the hottest bridal salons in Waterloo Region by making shopping
fun and pressure-free
Owner, Janis Diebolt, has roots so deep in the
bridal attire business that she was practically born in a bridal salon.
Janis’ mother owned the largest bridal salon in Canada (Bridal Penthouse in
Kitchener) throughout the ‘60s and ‘70’s. Janis worked the busy salon from
1970 on. With over thirty years in the wedding industry, it’s not a surprise
that she has, with a lot of help from her family, made Charmanté into one of the
hottest bridal salons in Waterloo Region in just under two years. This gown
shop found their key to success is offering a wide selection, no-pressure sales,
and an environment that makes gown shopping fun and easy.
We met with owner, Janis, her daughter Amber who is managing supervisor and also
oversees the store on a daily basis, and their staff at Charmanté Bridal &
Evening Wear to learn more about the styles, designers and services they offer -
from bride and bridesmaid gowns to attire for the mother of the bride and...

Even though
'to do, or not to do' a wedding video can be a hot topic with some
couples, the jury's definitely in on the 'Video Engagement Story', if
you ask me.
Over the
past year, innovative video production companies such as Director's Cut,
have helped to change the face of wedding videos altogether. Couples are
pitching the idea of Uncle Bob's home digicam for professional,
documentary-style (candid) video memories set to their favourite tunes.
While these new innovations have brought about a variety of different
options, one of the more popular elements introduced (and that I've
heard the most 'bridal buzz' about) has to be the 'Video Engagement
Story - a.k.a. 'Romance Story'.
What is
it?
Well, in layman's terms, this is a video interview with the bride and
groom after they're engaged and before they're married. It's taken in a
park, home or setting that is either beautiful or sentimental. The
biggest reasons for this video feature are its elements of both romance
and reality. Without the bride listening, the groom tells his own love
story, reasons for asking the bride to marry him and what he sees in
their future together. Then the bride gets her turn - also outside of
the groom's earshot. After separate interviews, the couple appear on the
screen together, telling their story, kissing, smiling, interacting with
each other as they normally would. This 'Video Engagement Story' is set
to their favourite music - either fast and fun or slow and romantic, and
is played at the wedding reception or compiled into the rest of their
wedding video. This element often opens with a slide show of the couple
growing up and dating for added effect. Prices for this element usually
cost approximately $300 (similar to that of an engagement photo shoot).

most romantic proposal:
by idreamy
Hey all. I guess
Ill jump in too & tell the story of our proposal. I had a funny feeling for
a long time that something was going on but was in denial that it could be a
proposal! One evening we were going to a Christmas party, but FH wanted to
go to a nice fancy restaurant first. The place was booked except for a late
time & he said we could just do it another day, but I said we should do it
because I knew something was up. During dinner, Fh was bugging me about a
ring I was wearing on my left ring finger because he thought it was so ugly.
He managed to take it off & said "Ill put it back on but you have to close
your eyes first" eek!
So I
said ok & was soo nervous. He slipped on a ring that felt different than the
one I was wearing, & said I could open my eyes. There was my beautiful
engagement ring on my finger. He held my hand, said a little speech (I dont
remember what he said!) & asked me to marry him. I was breathless but
managed to say yes

My Diary fave: ginevra
I went dress
shopping again with my Mom and my Dad
this time, and I found the dress of my dreams! The funny thing was, I was
getting really discouraged and was just about at the point of thinking that
I would never find "THE" dress. The lady that was helping me then pulled out
my dress... It's really pretty and a little different. It's Champagne
coloured with spagetti straps and an empire waste line with lots of pretty
little glass beads down the front. I'm SOOO excited and happy. I also found
the perfect veil and Tiara. yay!
OK, I know I'm babbling, but the best part is that the dress happens to be
the exact colour as my mother's pearls that were given to her by my
Grandfather. My mother has offered to let me wear them, and since my
Grandfather died a number of years ago, its the perfect way to have him at
the wedding.

We're Finally Married! Yay!

Here are a few
pictures of our day! They are all amature, I won't get our official ones
back from the photographer for a couple more weeks!!! The ones with the tent
were our ceremony and were taken at my in-laws farm! I think that everything
looked gorgeous!!!! I wish you could have all been there to get the full
effect! The others are from our reception (1st Dance), and some pictures at
different locations! ENJOY!!!
