For subtle décor as sweet as the decorator herself, A Touch of Class goes above and beyond

Dianne McDonald is one of the most genuine people you could ever hope to meet in your wedding planning travels. There isn't anything she wouldn't do for you or your wedding, if it is within her power. From customizing your wedding favours to decorating your entire reception hall, A Touch of Class Gifts & Events offers sweet, subtle décor with mixes of different fabrics, lighting, and colours. Dianne can offer a unique combination of services that's rare to find from one vendor. She can create favours, decorate your entire wedding, help with gifts by creating customized gift arrangements, and even plan parts of your event. You'll love working with her as soon as you get a chance to meet with her in person. Her personality is warm and her inability not to help you with everything you need is endearing. We highly doubt that Dianne has ever said no to a request from her couples, and we know that you will feel more than taken care of with her... We were greeted by Dianne's warm smile as we entered her home to find out more about her decorating. Every need that we had was attended to with doting and attention that is a treasure to find in the service industry. This translated in the offering of food and beverages, and in the careful way Dianne listened to every question we had, made sure to give us every bit of information possible, and followed up with a level of care that any bride would be pleased with. Since her husband passed away ten years ago, Dianne has been busy refocusing her life. With the encouragement of her... click for more

barebonephoto uses editorial photojournalism to photograph wedding moments

Emma Smallbone of barebonephoto comes to your table with fourteen years of experience - the last four of which have been right here in the Cambridge/K-W area. Emma has an open personality that makes you feel like you could talk to her forever and she just 'gets it' - she understands where you're coming from. Yet it's her love for her work that makes you feel safe in the knowledge that she'll be there on your wedding day. Professionally speaking, it's Emma's approach to shooting that sets her apart from many photographers - almost all of her event photos are photojournalistic candid-style. She uses several... click for more

Brentwood specializes in old-fashioned chauffeur service
There is no shortage of people who have excellent things to say about Brentwood Livery. I'd heard from both brides and other experts in town that Brentwood was a call I needed to make. When I finally met David, his wife Marilyn, and their son, Brent, I could tell that everything about them and their dedication to their business, was genuine. With Brentwood Livery, you get the distinct feeling of being taken care of - the way you would when your Grandmother spoils you by sneaking you a chocolate and a hug when no one else is looking. Brentwood Livery is a family owned and run business that has been in operation since 1990. It is one of the largest limousine companies found here... click for more

From 'English garden' to 'Renaissance' décor, Ayr decorator sets the scene for weddings

Before we arrived at the Now & Always showroom, Cindy Koebel had lit dozens of candles and lanterns, had all of her twinkle lights sparkling throughout the room, and her portfolio was arranged to showcase a large collection of work examples. Cindy does this for every client because it introduces them to the Now & Always style of decorating. It also hints at what's to come for the bride and groom, should they hire Cindy to create a mood for their reception. What all of this really said to us, though, was that Cindy cares about presentation and about details. With certification in fresh floral... click for more

Original designs from Decorating Dreams create elegance & breathtaking romance

Decorating Dreams is about personality and style. Their success revolves around designing countless wedding dreams each year without losing the personal attention that lets you know you're truly taken care of here. Lori Lawrence and Mark Boshart, owners of Decorating Dreams, offer the décor you've been dreaming of, the selection that only a huge inventory of options, themes, props and colours can provide, and the assurance of working with a company that is famous in the area for being among the best in their craft. Let us explain why we singled out Decorating Dreams as the experts they are... click for more

The Kanellis family goes beyond all expectations to make sure every bride and groom leave Golf's with a story to tell

It seems like just about every couple or family in the community has a story to tell about Golf's - whether it be of their anniversary in the Dining Room alongside the Grand River, their corporate Christmas Party in the Golf's Royal Room or their Ballroom wedding reception. And now The Ring has a story to tell too... At Golf's Steak House & Seafood, the Kanellis family goes far above and beyond any reasonable expectation of service, and almost always at no extra cost to you. From setting up your decor and opening doors for your guests to serving seconds on plated dinners and distributing after-dinner mints and... click for more

From sketch pad to oven, each cake Jirina creates is unique

When Jirina goes to work on a wedding cake, she does so knowing that most couples want their cake to be a decoration as well as a treat. Jirina’s Bakery is owned by Jirina Kepka, and run by herself and her son, Milan. They’ve been doing wedding cakes together in K-W for fifteen years. The world of cakes revolves around keeping food fresh, offering the best flavours, and making new designs to keep brides happy. A cake by Jirina Jirina’s is the only storefront bakery that focuses entirely on cakes for events from birthdays to wedding anniversaries. Their Victoria Street North showroom is wall to wall with dozens of sample cakes designed by Jirina and baked from scratch by herself and Milan... click for more

British born photographer Tony Ward uses edgy approach to capture memories

You wouldn't expect your average wedding photographer to be willing to stand chest-high in water or hang from a fire escape to capture your perfect photo, but then Tony Ward of Accent Studios isn't your average photographer. But what may seem off-the-wall about Tony is what you end up loving him for when it comes time to photograph your wedding day. He told us, "At the end of the day I want to put something in your hands that moves you... I want people to look at the enlargements on your wall... and be awe struck." The Ring met Tony at the Wedding Dreams Wedding Show at... click for more

Subject: I cannot believe this is happening

"As you can see from my ticker. my wedding is almost a month away. 38 days to be exact. FH just got a call from his brother in Halifax, who is in our wedding. He is not going to be able to come to the wedding he says. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? You chose to tell us this 38 DAYS FROM THE WEDDING?! He just got married in Cuba in April and they are building a house (I totally understand the expenses involved. But when Fh asked him in DECEMBER he was well aware that he was getting married and building a house. WHY DID HE AGREE TO BE IN THE WEDDING? He could have just declined politely and said, we can't afford it. We would have totally understood. But to lead us to believe otherwise and make plans and then leave it to NOW? My wedding party consists of two groomsmen and two bridesmaids (who have spent $400 on their dresses). I truly can't believe this is happening and I think I am going to throw up. I am moving out of my apartment on Friday to another city, I have 7 days to finish the school year..."

Subject: Living together before marriage...

"Old thread but im posting anyways...FH and I do live together with our kids. It started out weird! I am a very old fashioned person where the woman cleans takes care of kids and makes sure hubby is happy i mean im completely old fashioned!!!. I was very young when I had my first child (16) so I had to face reality that 'nowadays' it is much harder to live like that for financial reasons. So I started going to career classes and taking every skills test you could think of and it still said maid & chef were the top ones LOL I was getting used to the idea of having to work, then I met chris, everything went on HOLD I mean everything! He literally swept me off my feet! We moved in together about 3 months after we started dating, so he could take care of me and my son. I found someone who is old fashioned too!! It is great I know my role he knows his and we really didn't have to discuss anything in that area it just 'feel into place' At times I do wish we waited till after..."

Subject: OK my turn to ask for help

"Here's my situation ladies, my wedding is in a plain hall, so we hired a decorator to do all the fancy stuff, we've just realized that the lighting suck's it's either all or nothing and since were paying a small fortune to create a mood cafeteria style lighting would kill it no matter how much we spend. So my dilemma, I was told I should contact a theatrical light place..."

Subject: Our Cuban Wedding

"Hi All, I am just getting to the wedding story now, we decided to do a destination wedding in Cuba. When we were first talking about it we were humming and hahing about the pros and cons and then we just bit the bullet and said this is what we always wanted to do even before we got engaged we talked about having the sand between our toes on our wedding day. So it all started on May 5th we organized a limo bus to come pick us and our guests before heading to the airport, there were a couple of people that didn't come on the bus cause they lived in hamilton and toronto... so then we waited at the airport to board our plan and what happens but the people coming themselves got stuck in traffic (one was my MOH) and checked in 15 minutes before we were about to board the flight... STRESS I started to get stressy at that point.. but all was well... We arrived at the hotel and checked in, the next day we met with our wedding coordinator for about an hour.. thats it and we made all the decisions about the flowers, photographer, cake, dinner, where on the resort we were going to have our ceremony, and we were back at the pool in an hour. All I can say is SWEET. The day of our wedding was May 9th, we went to the breakfast buffet and had breakfast with our familys and wedding party, belini's and all those were yummy!! Then I made my way to the hair dresser, word to the wise if you are having a destination wedding make sure you bring pictures of what you want your hair to look like..."

Subject: 1st Anniversary!!!

"Well, this coming Sunday (18th) will be our 1st Anniversary!!!!
I can't believe it, a whole year has gone by and we hardly even noticed it! It definitely doesn't seem like it was a whole year ago that I was finalizing all the finishing touches and sooo excited to finally be married. It was an amazing day and I wish I was doing it all over again tomorrow (without the expense LOL). So I guess I need a little input...... Other than going out for dinner and spending the entire day together just the 2 of us, what can we go..."

Subject: Article in the local newspaper

"Ok, So I am a little disturbed by the fact that they had mentioned A united states website, verses a canadian website in an article about brides on the web. First of all I am just biased against the other website, because I tried to order fans, from their wedding shop, but I had to have an american credit card and they only delivered to the states. So I guess if you are having a destination wedding... and have an american credit card, then it would be helpful... but... there was no mention of a great canadian local website..."

Subject: The Proposal

"so, I've been engaged since march, but just wrote my proposal down in my keepsake book and decided to post it on here. It was our 3 year anniversary and I had been staying at my parents house dog sitting for them. Chris has planned to come over in the afternoon and then we were going to go out for dinner as planned. Just before Chris arrived I received a gerbera daisy arrangement. In the afternoon Chris and I decided to go to the mall to kill some time before dinner. I didn't know where we were going for dinner, as he had planned it. I asked him when I needed to be ready for, so I knew when I had to start getting ready. At 6:00 we went outside to leave for dinner. At the end of the driveway was a stretched limo. I didn't think this was for us!! He said Happy Anniversary and told me he wanted to do something special for it, so decided to..."
