Galt Country Club offers phenomenal beauty, class and service for weddings

When you pull up to Galt Country Club's 100-year old private estate, you can see and feel the prestige and history that make up this members only golf and country club. For a bride and groom, it's Galt's exclusive atmosphere and beauty - inside and out - that make it so easy to envision a wedding day hosted here. Galt offers a full time on-site Wedding Coordinator, can accommodate 50 to 350 guests, offers four banquet rooms, full catering services, and the natural beauty of wall to wall windows and historical architecture. Let us explain...

Raising expectations

Galt Country Club is an exclusive Club established in 1906 that offers golf, curling and social memberships. General Manager, Scott Stanhope, explained what this means to you, "Our members expect the best... Class, elegance, expertise, and the highest level of service. We do everything possible to ensure we surpass our members expectations." To host a wedding at Galt, the bride and groom must purchase a social membership, or be sponsored in by a member of the Club. With membership, couples become entitled to special rates and a number of additional privileges and events, in addition to a beautiful location (which is more than worth it on its own) for their wedding day. click for full story

In a past life...

Scott's previous work consisted of television and film work that took place mostly in the Toronto area. He was an active member of the Director's Guild of Canada, worked as assistant director on the set of the TV series, 'Doc', and on movies such as 'Death to Smoochie' and 'Exit Wounds'.

Because it was not uncommon for Scott to be gone for days if not weeks at a time as he worked long hectic hours, Scott came to realize that even though his work was exciting, it would be impossible to have a personal life in this type of career.

After a career in television and movies, Willow Creek finds that weddings keep them most fulfilled

Scott Clevely, owner of Willow Creek Studios, comes from a six year career in television and movies. But now it's Scott's family, his home, this community, and your wedding videos that he considers to be the most personally fulfilling. "It's a different career, a different life here," he explained, comparing wedding videography to his previous career. "I love Cambridge. I can have a family. I can still do what I love to do. And with weddings, well... there is nothing better than a wedding day..."

Willow Creek is Scott's full time job and focus. He personally handles each email, phone call, meeting, video shoot, and post-production session himself. He has designed his packages to be competitive and flexible, with a variety of  options such as Wedding Stories and Video Guest Books. But it's because his twenty-five weddings per summer comes almost entirely from referrals by previous happy brides, and because after meeting him at bridal shows, his phone literally rings off the hook, we knew  Scott was more than just a little noteworthy. Let us explain... click for full story

Chocolate Fountain Guru is serving up hundreds of weddings in sweet style

Jennifer Roberts is not the 'Jack of all Trades' type. Instead, she's more like the master (guru, if you will) of one - the chocolate fountain. Chocolate fondue-style fountains are all that Jennifer does, and her focus has made her one of the most popular girls in town, especially at a way-low price of $375 to $525.

This interview was one of the most delicious ones ever had by The Ring's staff (we also brought the kids - for some cross-generational perspective...). From two-inch strawberries to smores-with-a-twist, we can tell you first hand that it's no wonder why KW Chocolate Fountains is booking solid into 2006.

Most of Jennifer's clients are chocolate-loving brides, caterers, reception halls, night clubs, trade shows and anyone throwing a bridal shower, bar mitzvah or anniversary. Chocolate fountains are great option for cocktail hours, Sunday brunches, late night snacks, and as dessert after dinner. Just about everyone loves chocolate, but all sweetness aside, there's something romantic about these fountains... click for full story

When you hire KW Chocolate Fountains, you're getting three hours and two gallons worth of milk, dark or white chocolate cascading over a three-tiered chocolate fountain that will serve up to 300 guests (with a medium sized fountain). You're getting your choice of fresh fruit, candies, cakes and pretzels (tons of possibilities) to dip with using skewers. Your chocolate fountain attendant sets up, attends the table throughout the event, and tears down mess-free, all for no additional charge. Your fountains come with 6" wooden skewers for guests to dip with. Additional options such as food displays and decor to the tune of such items as ivy, twinkle lights, and matching fabric.

3 tips for a successful fall wedding

By Nelia & Teresa, Ultimate Affairs Event Planning

1. For your fall wedding, consider a story book setting such as an inn or a Bed and Breakfast. Old barns for fall weddings can be casual yet elegant. You can also look at and apple orchard... there are quite a few to choose from in our area.

2. Your décor can reflect the crisp season with sheaths of corn or wheat. You can hollow out mini gourds and use them to hold votives on your guests' tables. Or a floral centerpiece arranged in a hollowed our pumpkin. Mums, roses, daises and yarrow are in season and therefore less expensive. They also create the perfect fall atmosphere.

3. Your favors can also reflect the season. Think of all things fall... a beautiful bow on a bottle of maple syrup (another southern Ontario specialty)... candied or caramel apples wrapped in cellophane. Try either of these with your label marking the heartwarming event. We also love the idea of giving away a jar of homemade preserves to each guest. If you are not keen on learning this skill for such an important purpose, local farmers are stocked and ready to sell their family treasures at local markets and stands. Mmmmmm apple butter!

groom-to-be calls for help!:

T - 1 Day to PROPOSAL!!!! NEED ENCOURAGEMENT!!!!

"Hello everyone, I am a guy about to propose to my girlfriend of 1 year. We met in our last year of university and have been in love ever since. Sunday Oct 9 is our 1 year anniversary and I am really nervous as I am going to pop the question in about 1.5 days. I bought her a ring (she doesn't know) ...not too fancy unfortunately due to financial reasons but, I am so psyched!!!. Anyway, plan so far is: Morning --> Breakfast together, Afternoon---> Blue Man group, Evening ---> CN tower 360 restaurant, Night ---> School where we first met. How to say it? "Honey, in one day I have given you the sun and the moon ...and (getting on one knee) if you say yes , I will give you my world" Is it good? corny? bad? awful? Input will be greatly appreciated!!!!! Very Happy"

most romantic proposals: A sweet surprise

"I have been a visitor to this site since my fiancé proposed, July 4 2005, and have finally decided it's time to share my proposal. Chris and I have been together for 2½ years, he asked me to be his, one moonlit night on the beach in the Dominican Republic, we went away as friends, with a group of friends. Anyways, my MOH and I were down in the states on our yearly shopping trip, and I came home late afternoon on the Sunday of the Canada day long weekend, Chris is a US sales rep and had the Monday the 4th off, and since I had just been away doing my second favorite past time, we were going to do his favorite past time on his day off and that was golfing. He told me that he was going to a meeting for his other business, since he’s always working, and so I was giving him directions to some office in the middle of the country, I had no idea where I was leading him. He turned into a horse stable, and I was frantic, he only had 10 minutes to get to this meeting and here he was “asking for directions” and taking his sweet time. He hands me some papers and tells me to fill them out, by this point I’m almost yelling at him to stop wasting time, he was going to be late, that’s when he confesses, there was no meeting we were going horse back riding, my favorite past time. We rode for 2 hours, and I still think he’s just being sweet, when we got off the horses for our break, he walks over, puts both hands on my shoulders and tells me he just had this conversation with my father, then drops to one knee and pulls out the box. He asked me to marry him and as you can probably guess, I said yes, I didn’t cry because I was soo stunned, I usually know everything, and he really surprised me with this one. I found out later, my MOH, her mother and all the other women we were shopping with knew the whole weekend what was in store for me when I got home, and to make it even worse, I was carrying the ring box in my saddle bags since the beginning of the ride." - Heather

my diary fave: 30 Posts in 30 days . . .

"Okay, so this is my final countdown here . . . I have 31 days to my wedding (Happy 14th to the other Oct. 15 brides out there!) I've decided to keep a diary of the last month of planning. Everyday I'll update and keep track of what I've been up to . . . ah, insight into the last weeks of singledom! Day 30: Today was productive! Our passports arrived this morning - so now we are completely clear for our honeymoon! Our pictures are TERRIBLE!! I went and dropped my engagement ring off for refurbishing . . . in a few days it will look like new again! Maybe then it won't look yellow next to my wedding band.. Took my MOH for her fitting . . . whew! I almost forgot! Co-incidentally, FH and I were at her place this evening. I was a little disappointed that she was obviously getting ready to go out, but figured I could watch TV or something while FH and MOH's DH fixed the computer. Then she mentioned her fitting, and I was jolted back to reality!! OH YEAH!! It went well. The dress is definitely a touch too small for her, but I think she looks incredible for the mom of a 3 month old baby! I also picked up our special Occasion Permit, so we can serve our own wine at the reception. No sooner did I get home, than I got a call from the LCBO. Turns out they gave me the wrong copy, so I have to go switch it tomorrow. ARGH!... So there you have it . . . 30 days. I'm feeling crazy overwhelmed that it is SO Close . . . Where did the last nine months go? I cant' wait to marry my beloved, but at the same time, I want our engagement to go on and on, so that I can have more time to enjoy it! I cant' even believe how full our calendar is getting! Free time is at a premium, for sure!"

advice: Prediction - Bridesmaid Disaster!

"I met this girl almost a year ago through my best friend and MOH. We had a lot of problems getting along at first because she was my FH ex girlfriend and she wasn't over him at all even though they had been broken up for almost a year. Then she became jealous of my friendship with my MOH. Over time we got to know eachother better and became pretty good friends. A few weeks after my FH proposed to me I asked my best friend to be my MOH. Then I asked this girl if she would be a brides maid because we were good friends then and were getting along so well. Now she has been seeing this guy for about 6 months and has completely alianated everyone. She never calls me or my MOH..."

Wife vs. Husband
A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word.
An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?" "Yep," the wife replied, "in-laws."

Words
A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day... 30,000 to a man's 15,000. The wife replied, "The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men... The husband then turned to his wife and asked, "What?"

Creation
A man said to his wife one day, "I don't know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time." The wife responded, "Allow me to explain. God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me; God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you!"

Who Does What
A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning. The wife said, "You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee." The husband said, " You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that's your job and I can just wait for my coffee. " Wife replies, "No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee. "Husband replies, "I can't believe that, show me." So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says... "HEBREWS".

The Silent Treatment
A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment. Suddenly, the man realized that the next day, he would need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight. Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, "Please wake me at 5:00 AM." He left it where he knew she would find it. The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed. The paper said, "It is 5:00 AM. Wake up."
