tips & tricks: realistic planning help for local brides

Dare to be YOU in print

:: How to make sure your invites emulate your 'couple style'

by Lisa Davis-Treleaven of Big Orange Designs in Kitchener

When planning your wedding, it's obvious that the bride will choose a dress that flatters her beautifully and the groom will choose attire that will suit him too a tee... The flowers will be of a colour and shape that compliments the look of your wedding, and everything else will fall into place... Or will it?

We've heard the odd bride question the importance of an invitation and the way we look at it is this: Invitations set the stage for what is to be one of the most important days of your life. Invitations are your calling cards. They introduce guests to what they can expect to see at your ceremony and reception and are kept by most of your guests, long after your wedding day has come and gone.

It's fun to get creative and personal with your invites. Take the golden opportunity that stationery provides and jump into the design and personalization of everything from invites to thank you cards. Use them to say something unique about you as a couple. Tell your story with colour and design.

When brides come to Big Orange Designs for an initial consultation, we take the time to really find out who they are as a couple and how we might be able to incorporate that into the look and feel of their invitations. Some things we ask are: How did you meet? Where did you get engaged? What are your hobbies, your passions and interests? Are you more funky than formal or more formal than casual? Then we help incorporate that personality and style, not just in your flowers, or attire, but in that first representation of your day... your invitation. It's all about giving your honoured guests a glimpse into your love story.
